Oral Implant Research Group

The research group focuses on developing and assessing bioactive implant surfaces. Biologically active surfaces are derived via various surface treatments. Currently the main interest is in the utilization of nanoporous coatings on zirconia, titanium and other materials used in implant and prosthetic components. The ultimate goal is to develop surface treatments that enhance wound healing and facilitate biological fixation of oral implants in bone and soft tissue environment.

Another important part of our research is to study novel methods for cleaning and activating implant surfaces contaminated by various pathogens. The final aim of this research project is to create treatment methods which can facilitate re-osseointegration and peri-implant tissue regeneration.
